The Scavenger - New Online Media Resource

The Scavenger is a monthly online magazine/portal of features, commentary and news that you’re unlikely to find in mainstream media. It's a mix of original articles, aggregated content (republished blog posts) and author extracts. The aim is to take a bit of time to collect a selection of articles for each of the categories - feminism & pop culture, GLBSGDQ, health, media & technology, social justice, books, DVDs, music, arts - that you can enjoy each month.

To get the best out of The Scavenger, sign up for their newsletter - you won't be bombarded daily or even weekly, but will be alerted when a new set of articles goes live each month.

The Scavenger is the creation of Katrina Fox, a journalist with 12 years' experience as a news and features writer, sub-editor and editor on a range of consumer, trade, community and public sector magazines in London and Sydney. Associate editors and writers are based across the globe and articles are intended for an international audience. The site is not-for-profit and was launched in December 2009.

My aim is to empower you to play long after lessons end. So, if you're  interested in cutting through all the hard brain-drain stuff and getting to the PLAYING bit, I can help you out! I tailor lessons to what YOU need . We can cover everything from tuning to learning your favourite covers. I can also assist with songwriting and microphone and singing techniques.

Or ...if you're already playing, but feel a bit stuck in a rut I can help you find some new grooves, experiment with different styles and alternate tunings.... explore ways of enhancing your singing and performance, streamline playing covers or sharpen up your originals, by giving you a fresh eye to edit your songs and look at whole-song structure.

Teaching is a passion which I feel privileged to pursue. Suitable for beginners, intermediate - acoustic or electric.  Situated at Waterloo 10 mins from Central, close to public transport. $35 per hour. (discounted rates: $30 per/hr for CWDU subscribers)  Afternoons, evenings or weekends session times available. All inquiries welcome - call:  Sammi 0417 470 331 or email sfonte@iprimus.com.au *also now offering: Mandolin Tuition*.
